About Sri Lankan Biology Olympiad:
The Sri Lankan Biology Olympiad gives the students interested in the field of Biology a chance to explore and challenge their skills in Biology. They compete with others to stand meritorious and to get a chance to compete in the International Biology Olympiad.
Syllabus:
The syllabus of the exam includes G.C.E. Advanced Level Biology curriculum (except the Applied Biology Unit). The questions can also be asked on the current developments in Biology, so the students should be prepared on it as well.
Marking Scheme:
The paper consists of 40 MCQs and 20 short answer questions. The total time allocated is 2 hours. The marking of each question is not defined and is not stated by the
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students who are going to appear for local or foreign A/L exams are eligible to apply
- There is no age barrier for local competition
- To participate in the international competition, the student should be less than 20 years of age as of 30th June 2018
Level of Exam:
The questions asked in the exam are sophisticated and require presence of mind towards the question itself as well. The competition is a prelim for the International Biology Olympiad and hence the level of the exam is set high to select the best students Exam Dates:
The exam was held on 2nd July 2017 last year and the date for this year’s exam will be tentatively in the vicinity of this date.

- A non-refundable registration fees of Rs. 800 should be paid to any People’s Bank Branch to Institute of Biology account number 086-1-001-4-1191763 of Thimbiriyasaya Branch of Peoples Bank

Benefits, Awards & Scholarships:
- Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to students based on their performance
