About Malaysia Chemistry Olympiad:
IChO is the abbreviation for the International Chemistry Olympiad. This event is held annually since 1968, except in 1971, among the participating countries. IChO is an academic competition for high school students and along with other olympiads such as the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) and International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), IChO is one of the international science olympiad.

Countries:
The olympiad has started and held in the Communist Bloc until 1980, where Austria, a non-Communist nation held the 12th IChO and since embraces to be non-political. As of 2014, only a few nations outside Europe that have held the olympiad, namely the United States of America, People's Republic of China, Canada, Thailand, India, Republic of China: Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, and Vietnam.
