About Senior Stem Olympiad:
The Senior Stem Olympiad is one of the sets of three Olympiads organized by Dubai Stem Olympiad-Premiere Genie which includes the Junior Stem Olympiad and the Intermediate Stem Olympiad. The aim of this event is to find some of the brightest minds among students in Dubai. It is an event where the smartest and brightest minds in Dubai will come together under one roof to find who is the best.
Syllabus:
The students will be tested in the fields of Maths, Intermediate Physics, Data Structure, Computer Algorithms, Astronomy and Rocket Basics in the Senior Stem Olympiad. The Intermediate stem Olympiad deals with Advanced Maths, Science, General Knowledge, Astronomy and Computer Programming. Preliminary Maths, Science, Vocabulary, General Knowledge and Computer components are in the Junior Stem Olympiad. There is no detailed list of the topics under each of these sections but the paper is based on topics of up to Grade 7 for the Intermediate Stem Olympiad.
Marking Scheme:
The online test consists of 20 questions of 1 mark each. However, the pattern of the paper changes slightly every year.
Eligibility Criteria:
The students of 8th to 9th Grade (13-15 years of age) can give the Senior Stem Olympiad. Students of 4th to 5th Grade (8-10 years of age) can appear for the Junior Stem Olympiad while students of 6th to 7th Grade (11-12 years of age) are eligible to appear for the Intermediate Stem Olympiad.
Level of Exam:
The exam is an online test based on the understanding of the students and the ability to reason. It consists of an Online Quiz Round and an Online Test Round. These rounds are conducted and eligible for students as follows:
- First Round (for Junior, Intermediate and Senior Level): 15th November to 15th January
- Second Round (who clear round 1): 1st February to 15th March
Students who clear the Second Round are invited for the Main Event on 15th April where they need to solve a problem using STEM concept.
Exam Dates:
The First Round of the exam will be conducted from November 15, 2017, to January 15, 2018. The Second Round of the exam will be conducted from February 1, 2018, to March 15, 2018. The main event of the Stem Olympiad will be conducted on April 27, 2018.
