About Sri Lankan Informatics Olympiad:
The International Olympiad in Informatics or IOI is one of the 8 International Olympiads in Science and the Sri Lankan Informatics Olympiad or SLIO is an attempt to select the team to represent Sri Lanka in the IOI.
Syllabus:
As the test consists of algorithmic programming, there is no prescribed syllabus for the same. The individual needs to be thorough with the programming language they are going to use and the various concepts and methods of algorithm, database, etc.
Marking Scheme:
There is an initial screening for the competition which consists of 10 quiz question. It is necessary to score at least 50% in the same to be able to appear for the competition. The main test consists of programming problems which need to be solved with the help of a computer.
Eligibility Criteria:
Interested candidates must score at least 50% marks in the initial screening. Only then can they apply for the exam. The candidate must be a student in any school in Sri Lanka. The local competition has no age barrier, but for the International Competition requires the candidate to be less than 20 years of age.
Level of Exam:
The programming challenges of the competition are way harder than what is prescribed in most places for an under-graduate level. Even for applying for the competition, the candidate needs to pass the screening test which is difficult in its own.

STEP 1 : Enter you Name, Birthday & Email Address at the link http://ioi.lk/register.aspx
STEP 2 : Complete the Quiz - Attempt all 10 questions
STEP 3 : If you have 50% or more fill in the rest of the information and submit
STEP 4 : You'll receive an e-mail with the Registration ID
STEP 5 : Download and Print the Application ( DOC |PDF)
STEP 6 : Get the signature from the Principal and Send a copy of the application to them as per described in the details
Benefits, Awards and Scholarships:
Achievers are given medals and certificates. The top candidates are invited to take part in IOI to represent Sri Lanka.
